He died in 1871 in Sugar Creek, Tuscarawas, OH.

His wife was Sarah Salley McFerson, who he married on 17 JAN 1825 in Tuscarawas Cnty, OH. Their ten known children were Jane (1826-1890), Mary Allen (1827-?), Louisa (1831-1922), Sarah (1833-?), Susannah (1835-?), Hannah (1837-?), John (1840-1900), Matthias (1841-?), Jacob (1843-?) and Almira (1846-?).
